Self Assessment, tax planning and help with letters from HMRC, from one accountant you can ring.

Self Assessment and tax returns

If you are self-employed, a partner, a landlord or have income that is not taxed before you receive it, you may need to send a return. We prepare it and file it with HMRC.

Our tax returns page covers who needs to file, what to send us and how the fixed fee works.

Tax planning

Planning means looking at your income and the tax rules before the year ends, not after. We go through what you earn and what you already pay, then explain the choices the rules allow.

You decide what to do. We cannot promise a lower tax bill.

Things people ask us about

  • What to put aside for the January bill.
  • Whether a change in income changes what you owe.
  • Whether you can claim relief on something you have paid for.
  • Whether Making Tax Digital for Income Tax will apply to you.

6 April 2027. Making Tax Digital for Income Tax reaches self-employment and property income over £30,000. It already applies above £50,000. Making Tax Digital on gov.uk. Checked on 18 October 2026.

HMRC letters and support

A letter from HMRC is not always bad news, but it often has a date on it. We read it with you, explain what it asks for and by when, and help you reply.

Where you have authorised us, we can deal with HMRC for you, so you do not have to sit on the phone.

Letters we help with

  • A request to send a tax return. gov.uk says the deadline is on the letter.
  • A penalty notice for a late return or a late payment.
  • A question from HMRC about a figure on your return.

We can explain a penalty notice and the options open to you. We cannot promise HMRC will cancel or reduce a penalty.

Got a letter now? Send us a photo of it.
