What we use
We do not use cookies or similar tools for advertising, for profiling you or for following you from site to site. Because of that, we show no cookie banner.
Two things on this site can touch your device or send us technical information. Both are described below.
Visitor statistics (planned)
We plan to count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics. It is not switched on yet. We will update this page when it is.
Cloudflare says Web Analytics does not use any client-side state, such as cookies or localStorage, to collect usage metrics. It also says it does not identify individuals by IP address or browser user agent to show analytics.
We use the figures only to see which pages are read and to improve this site. We use them as totals, never to look at one person.
The law on storing or reading information on your device (the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, or PECR) has an exception for this kind of counting. The ICO's guidance on the exceptions to the consent rule sets the conditions, and updated it on 29 April 2026. Those conditions include these:
- the only purpose is to measure how the site is used, so we can improve it;
- the results are aggregate figures, not personal data;
- we tell you what we do, as we are doing here;
- you have a simple, free way to object.
The contact form
Our enquiry form is set up to use Cloudflare Turnstile. It is a security check that tells people from automated spam. It may store or read a small amount of information on your device to do that. [TBC: confirm exactly what Turnstile stores or reads]
We treat this as strictly necessary for the security of the form, so it does not need your consent. The ICO's guidance lists ensuring security among the examples. We use it for nothing else.

How to object

You can also block scripts and cookies in your browser settings, or with a content blocker. That does not replace telling us, but it stops the counting on your device.
